If you've reviewed the same one-man play every year for four years — three times with the same actor — how do you rate it for yet a fifth go-around and say something you haven't said before? Well, if the play is "The Santaland Diaries," the answer is easy and blunt.
Rick Blunt, that is.
This popular and talented American Shakespeare Center actor has inherited from John Harrell the role of a penniless, would-be soap opera actor who reluctantly takes a job as an elf at Macy's during the Christmas season. The inventive, audience-centric Blunt squeezes into his elf tights and negotiates the perdition of Christmastime at Macy's as if the role had never been played by anyone else.
