In the epilogue of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest,” the wizard Prospero claims that his “art to enchant” has abandoned him. Fortunately, the same can’t be said of the American Shakespeare Center, which has lost none of its considerable power to charm and captivate audiences.

 The ASC flexes every ounce of that creative muscle as it presents “The Tempest” — Shakespeare’s final solo play and valedictorian salute to the theater — which joins “The Importance of Being Earnest” as one of the shows you shouldn’t miss this summer at the Blackfriars Playhouse.
