ASC Education Artists assist with workshops, seminars, and residencies throughout the year. These talented professionals are often drawn from our pool of former interns or from the MBC MLitt/MFA graduate program.
Sarah Blackwell is an Education Artist for the American Shakespeare Center and a current first year student in Mary Baldwin’s Shakespeare and Performance program. She is a professional actress who has been seen in many shows at Wayside Theatre in Middletown, VA, such as A Christmas Carol, Harvey, The Comedy of Errors, and Romeo and Juliet. She also directed Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She has a BS in theatre from Radford University.
Lia Razak is a Philadelphia native and came to the American Shakespeare Center as an education intern. She currently works as the ASC's archivist and an Education Artist. She graduated with honors from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study and holds a BA in Shakespeare and Education.
Charlene V. Smith is an actor and director from the DC metropolitan area. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the College of William and Mary with a BA in Theatre and English and is currently a student in Mary Baldwin College's MLitt/MFA program in Shakespeare and Performance. Charlene has previously taught for the Bay Street Players Young People's Theatre program, the Maryland Shakespeare Festival, and InterAct Story Theatre. She is the co-founder of Brave Spirits Theatre, a professional theatre company in DC dedicated to the works of William Shakespeare and his contemporaries.
