PLAYHOUSE MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary: The American Shakespeare Center, a dynamic Shakespeare theatre and education center in Staunton, Virginia, seeks a highly motivated independent worker with excellent attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure. This position is responsible for making the Blackfriars Playhouse a safe, friendly, comfortable, clean, attractive, and enjoyable environment for audience and volunteers.
The Playhouse Manager is the primary House Manager for all performances at the Blackfriars Playhouse, and manages all aspects of the front of house including Bar Inventory, ABC Code, Usher training and organization, Fire and Safety protocol, and house keeping.
The ideal candidate will be able to handle high pressure situations, work well independently and proactively, communicate well and manage multiple projects at once. Experience with customer service and/or house management a plus. Friendly, helpful demeanor as well as strong organizational skills a must.
