Seven short plays inspired by Shakespeare's sonnets and written by seven contemporary American playwrights (Bogosian, Finn, Guare, Kushner, Norman, Shange, and Wasserstein). Originally commissioned in 1998 by The Acting Company, these adult-themed plays borrow on 16th century sonnet themes to examine modern, widely diverse issues. The American Shakespeare Center offers this reading to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the publishing of the sonnets. Part of our Bring 'Em Back Alive play reading series. FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY.
