The American Shakespeare Center is casting:

2011 BLACKFRIARS PLAYHOUSE SUMMER and FALL SEASONS: 

• The Tempest – Director, Jim Warren, ASC Artistic Director 
• The Importance of Being Earnest – Director, Jim Warren 
• Hamlet - Director, Jim Warren
• Henry V – Director, Ralph Alan Cohen, ASC Director of Mission
• Tamburlaine the Great (Part 1) – Director, Jim Warren 


• 6-1/2-month contract:  May – November 2011 
• Equity U/RTA, Tier II.  Non-Equity troupe members receive $1,200-$1,500 per month salary, health insurance, education opportunities, and housing. Also casting acting apprentices ($800 stipend per month, health insurance, education opportunities, and housing).
• All performances at the Blackfriars Playhouse in Staunton, VA.

2011/12 ALMOST BLASPHEMY TOUR:

• The Winter's Tale – Director, Jim Warren, ASC Artistic Director 
• A Midsumer Night's Dream – Director, TBA 
• 'Tis Pity She's a Whore - Director, Jim Warren

• A Christmas Carol – Director, Jim Warren

• 11-month contract:  July 2011 – June 2012 
• Non-Equity tour.  Troupe members receive $1,200-$1,500 per month salary, health insurance, education opportunities, and housing. Also casting acting apprentices ($800 stipend per month, health insurance, education opportunities, and housing).
• Tours the United States September through November and January through March.  Performs at the Blackfriars Playhouse in December and April through June.

What To Bring to Staunton and NYC Auditions:

• photo/resume

• any instruments you play--we look for classically-trained actors who can sing and/or play instruments (this is not a requirement, however)

• short monologue(s), preferably from the plays we're casting (5-10 lines is plenty) 

• knowledge of each of the plays (know the characters & the stories)

• cold readings will be assigned
