A multi-show residency brings a world-class Shakespeare festival to your venue.
Residencies offer unparalleled engagement and enrichment for your audiences and community.
ASC on Tour includes three very different plays, chosen from Shakespeare’s greatest hits, his underperformed gems, great plays by his contemporaries, and modern classics. Booking a multi-show residency lets your audiences experience it all.
- Experience rotating repertory — see the same professional actors exhibit flexibility and skill in multiple shows.
- Multi-show packages provide variety for your institution and community, and adding more shows reduces the cost per show.
- Thrust staging or adding seats on stage brings your audience close to the action.
- Universal lighting (house lights stay on) means audiences are part of the play — never left in the dark.
- Over a dozen workshops engage diverse audiences – our dynamic workshops explore rhetoric, embedded stage directions, special effects, stage combat, and more.

“The American Shakespeare Center has been coming to St. Lawrence almost since they were founded in 1988. What you get with a long visit from the troupe is so much more than you can get from a single performance; it’s the creation of a passionate community, one where your students have the leisure to notice how themes interact across plays, how actors adapt to different roles, and how very vibrant both Renaissance drama and the tradition of the stage are.”
Dr. Sarah Barber, Department of English, St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY
“As a presenter, booking ASC on Tour for all three shows is a no-brainer. . . [they] always get rave reviews from our patrons, who regularly ask when they’re coming back. ASC is very easy to work with, and their technical demands are minimal. Thank you to ASC for helping our audiences have a truly life-changing/affirming experience. This is why we do what we do.”
Sarah Schallern, Director, The Alden at the McLean Community Center, McLean, VA
“Each year ASC reignites a passion for Shakespeare here in Huntsville, Alabama. The local arts community — which includes actors, readers, teachers, retirees and even some NASA engineers —consistently attends performances of all three plays. Their repertoire appeals to a variety of tastes and interests, and we plan to invite ASC back for years to come.”
Dr. Jeffrey Nelson, Associate Professor of English, The University of Alabama in Huntsville
Direct from the stage of the Blackfriars Playhouse in Staunton, Virginia, ASC on Tour delivers engaging and interactive theatre for audiences at high schools, universities, and performing arts centers across the U.S. We are committed to reaching into all communities, particularly those with limited or no access to the performing arts.
