The American Shakespeare Center (ASC), a $4 million Equity theatre and educational center, seeks experienced candidates for the position of Business and Human Resources Manager. The Business and Human Resources Manager organizes and carries out the day-to-day business and finance functions for ASC. These functions include Financial Management, Human Resources administration, and some Office Administration. This position reports to the Managing Director and works closely with all departments and ASC’s auditors. The Business Manager directly supervises the Finance Assistant and Administrative Assistant.

Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION

With Finance Assistant, manage all financial records within QuickBooks including cash receipts, accounts payable, month-end closings, cash disbursements, and record/reconcile deferred revenue. Create monthly financial reports including Balance Sheet reconciliation and Operating Statements, cash management of six accounts, payroll administration, manage/release restrictions on accounts, sales tax and SCC filings, bank reconciliation review, and work with auditors in year-end audit process.

HUMAN RESOURCES ADMINISTRATION

Benefits administration, new employee orientation and documentation, oversee functions by insurance broker, maintain employee leave reports, maintain confidential personnel files, correspondence/reports with Virginia Employment Commission, Worker’s Comp, etc. Serve as first contact for all HR and personnel related questions and/or complaints. Manage annual review process.

OFFICE MANAGEMENT

Supervise Administrative Assistant and Finance Assistant; coordinate IT functions with contract IT professional.

CONTRACTS ADMINISTRATION

Maintain licenses and permits (ABC, vehicle registrations, etc.), employee contract administration, prepare and submit actors’ union reports, office equipment leases and maintenance agreements, maintain office files on all contracts and leases, provide reports and updates as needed.

Qualifications and Salary

Requires minimum 6 years previous experience in finance, a Bachelor’s degree, and a strong love of numbers. Experience with QuickBooks required. Experience with not-for-profit accounting and/or Salesforce a plus. Starting salary of $45,000, plus benefits.
