The American Shakespeare Center (ASC), a destination theatre and educational center located in Staunton, Virginia, seeks experienced candidates for the position of Wardrobe Manager.
Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:

Manage the care, laundering, and maintenance of all costumes, wigs, accessories, and footwear used in ASC productions.

Be onsite for all performances, assisting with costume changes and making emergency repairs as needed during performances.

Attend production meetings.

Offer advice on costume choices, quick-rigging, and construction, in order to maintain integrity of costume design and production standards throughout each show run.

Collaborate with Costume Shop Manager on the transition of costumes from shop to theatre for dress rehearsals.

Attend tech and dress rehearsals; work with Costume Shop Manager and team to complete costume notes.

Coordinate with Costume Shop Manager and designers to ensure costume lists and care sheets are up to date and accurate.

Distribute costume lists and care sheets to actors and stage management before first tech.

Assist actors with make-up design and proper use and care of wigs.

Coordinate with Costume Shop Manager on strikes and dry cleaning pickup/return.

Maintain cleanliness of wardrobe and dressing room areas.

Maintain wardrobe, laundry, dressing room, and show expendable supplies, consulting with Costume Shop Manager on budgets and purchasing with reasonable lead time.

Supervise and schedule wardrobe interns.

Work with Costume Shop Manager on restocking costume pieces throughout the season

Provide support for special events and company projects as requested.
SKILLS
-
Demonstrated interest and proficiency in costume construction, alteration, and clothing care techniques.

Experience as a dresser.
-
Proficiency in wig styling and maintenance.
-
Experience with theatrical make-up.
-
Effective organizational, communication, and time-management abilities.
-
Ability to manage multiple, overlapping productions, projects, and personnel.

Computer and internet proficiency.
-
Valid Driver’s license and vehicle.
Wardrobe Manager reports to the Costume Shop Manager and works closely with stage management, designers, and actors.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have experience as a dresser and wardrobe maintenance. They will be flexible with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to work successfully under pressure and meet deadlines and goals. COMPENSATION
Salary is $540 per week. Position includes health insurance and paid time off.
