Gallathea, Session 1
Favorite Shakespeare Play:
Shakespeare Character that best describes me:
Monsieur Le Beau
Favorite Shakespeare quote:
“It is my arm.” – Orlando, AYLI
Favorite Play that isn’t by Shakespeare:
The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe
All-time favorite ASC Moment:
On my first visit to Staunton and the ASC, Dr. Ralph interrupted an interview I was giving him and some other guests when he realized I hadn’t yet seen the space. He proceeded to escort me in right then because he just couldn’t wait to show me the space.
All-Time Favorite ASCTC Moment:
Last year, during our Volpone read through I cautiously let the cast know I wanted to open with a country song and set the whole show in the Wild West. They “yes and”-ed the idea so hard it actually worked.
Finch has lived, worked, and studied up and down the east coast from Georgia to New York. She earned a Master of Letters and a Master of Fine Arts in Shakespeare & Performance from Mary Baldwin University, and has a bachelors degree in secondary English education. Her favorite directing credits include Marlowe’s Faustus (MBU Masters Program), Goldsmith’s She Stoops to Conquer (MBU Undergrad Theatre Dept.), and Jonson’s Volpone (ASCTC). She is thrilled to be using her specifically Shakespeare degrees once again to direct a non-Shakespearean play at a Shakespeare camp. She currently lives in Staunton with her wife and her fish, Friday.
