Bring American Shakespeare Center home with BlkFrsTV

See the work that Terry Teachout of The Wall Street Journal just called
“the most ambitious plans for web-based theatre in the US!”

Since audiences can’t come to the Blackfriars, ASC is bringing the Playhouse to you.
Pull up a chair to the virtual hearth for cinema-quality streaming video of our complete 2020 Actors’ Renaissance and Tour Homecoming seasons.
See “Shakespeare done right” (DC Metro Theater Arts) professionally filmed live in Staunton, VA at the world’s only recreation of Shakespeare’s indoor theatre, “the perfect place for a Shakespeare getaway” (The Telegraph, UK).

To Purchase Tickets For Your Streaming Experience:

  • Select the show you want to watch
  • Choose the price level that suits your needs
  • Upon purchasing, you will receive a secure link and password to a cinema-quality video, available for you to watch for one week.

Just like at the Playhouse, ticket capacity is limited, so don’t delay!

15 Actors. 4 Plays. No directors.

The players rule the day in this season, as our company’s most skilled and senior actors stage every show — no directors allowed. Like the actors in Shakespeare’s day, it falls to them to pull the costumes, block the scenes, and find the pace and passion in every line, creating a bond between the players as well as with the audience. It’s a fast-paced, fascinating experience that led Washington Post theatre critic Peter Marks to declare: “I arrived a skeptic, I left a believer.”

Road tested, audience approved.
