Fall Repertory Season

September 11 - November 30

WELCOME TO autumn at the american shakespeare center

The 2019 Fall Repertory Season will continue ASC’s Roman Trio and add one exciting new show to the repertory. This season continues to trace the arcs of Cleopatra and Julius Caesar with  Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar; his own sequel, Antony and Cleopatra; and George Bernard Shaw’s “prequel,”Caesar and Cleopatra.

And, new to the season, is Julianne Wick Davis’ world-premiere musical The Willard Suitcases – a song cycle based on real suitcases found abandoned in Willard Asylum. We all have baggage – what’s yours?

“It’s vital to me that ASC/Blackfriars continue to be a laboratory for exploration of the human condition, and to do that effectively ASC as company needs to continue to stretch ourselves in new directions, bringing the talent, skills, and intelligence we have cultivated on the work of Shakespeare, talent amply displayed in our current Roman Rep and beautifully challenged in our free-wheeling approach to Shaw, to new voices and stories yet to be told.”
