Celebrate William Shakespeare’s Birthday with the American Shakespeare Center!

Saturday, April 24th join ASC Education for some fun, family-friendly—and socially distanced—activities. Learn a fight, make a plague mask, or grab your own blood packet from ASC and stage your very best Shakespearean Death Scene!

This event is entirely free and open to the public. Please RSVP below to help us plan for the most successful event.
Schedule of Events:

10:00 AM: Wear your Shakespearean best (costume ideas below!) and meet at the Staunton Farmer’s Market in the Wharf for a costume parade!

10:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Activities in front of Grace Christian School (19 S. Market St Staunton, VA- Please park on the street or in the parking lot on the corner of Beverley St and Market St).

  • Learn an Elizabethan Dance
  • Meet the ASC Bear
  • Stage a socially distanced fight
  • Show off your plague mask! (Download the pattern for a plague mask here)
  • Help write Shakespeare MadLibs (sign up below to receive an email of an ASC Actor performing the finished speech; or check out our social media!)
  • Deliver a Shakespeare Speech and compete for a prize! (Speeches available here)
  • Grab a complimentary blood packet from ASC and die your best Shakespearean bloody death (we’ll provide you the perfect Shakespearean line).
