What we did

We warmed up with a stoplight check-in and a quick game of whooshball, before beginning our final run-through before festival tomorrow! AFter an amazing run Emily sat the whole group down to give a final inspiring speech. We then released rehearsal a while early so everyone could have time to breathe and ponder and rest before the big day.

Quick and Quotable

  • “My quarrel was not altogether slight” -Spoken by Posthumus, one example of the many double-negatives Shakespeare uses.
  • “At this point it’s not mine anymore. You all have made this show what it is!” -Emily, to our cast.
  • “What I need today is the grace to make mistakes” -one of our campers during our stoplight check-in.
  • (An honorary mention to our campers who decided to use a banana as a stand in for our “drug” potion bottle prop. It was hilarious)

Production Insights

What can I say, really? These kids are some of the most incredible minds I’ve ever had the privilege to meet. I know for certain that the future is bright if the next generation is even half as amazing as these campers are. This whole experience of being dramaturg and assisting with this production has been eye opening, validating, and invigorating. I’ve known for a long time that I want to work with children and theatre in some capacity, but camp has solidified that. I believe that theatre is the most communicable form of education for all ages, but specifically those who are still developing their opinions on the world and are beginning to make their own choices. I wait with baited breath for the day I get to do this, or something like it, again. Adieu, dear readers.
