What we did
Today we began with a fight call, then moving onto quickly refining our song. After that, we all talked about our experience being Ralphed (one of the founders of the ASC worked with as many campers and their text as he could) yesterday. The feelings of that were overwhelmingly joyous. Because of that, we talked through the meter for the Prologue and made some decisive choices. Then we went onto talking about notes, had a break where a few of us played monkey in the middle with a yoga block. Then continuing notes, once we finished we voted to do a linethrough, and we ended rehearsal with playing a chaotically competitive game of Eastenders crowning Everett as the winner!
Quick and Quotable
- From the Play
- “In Troy there lies the scene” – The Speaker of the Prologue
This is the first line of the play, that tells you exactly how much you need to know. This was a major part of our work with Ralph yesterday.
- From the Director
- “The Varlet is stressed!” – Mili
- ” You’re getting so close to the tee hee and the ha ha” – Mili
- From the Cast
- “It was honestly kind of validating” – Bee about Ralph saying her enunciation needed work
- “You got Ralphed by the Red Bull” – Pax about John’s bag having been spilled on by Ralph’s Red Bull
- “I’m not giving notes on what to do, I’m giving her notes on what she did wrong” – John
- “Gorilla Butt is the Moment.” – Laura
Production Insights
Today was a low energy day, but we did a lot of hyperspecific work with the Prologue and the campers all feel great about it now. They continue to amaze me with their commitment despite their busy, busy schedules.
