Alternative Title: The Rise of DJ Clay and the unfortunate fall of the House of York?

After a long and busy week consisting of moving in, auditions, and jumping into rehearsals in rep for our current session at ASCTC, the campers were rewarded with the Masquerade. Something that I have learned is the main event of the summer.

Before the Masquerade came into fruition the campers were met with a packed schedule starting things off with Dramaturgy Presentations led by Analise Toone and Allison Monfalcone. Presentations full of family trees that came to life by the campers and where we have learned that it seems like the majority of the campers have aligned themselves with the House of Lancaster (to the chagrin of York fans and Lia).

After lunch the campers finished table work for Henry the Sixth Part Two, and once dinner was over the campers got ready for the main event: Masquerade. The night was filled with joy and lots of dancing to great music curated by our very own DJ Clay. The theme for the Masquerade was Pride, and it was a reminder of the fact that camp is a safe space. The world is crazy and unfortunately not fair, and it’s times like these that it’s important for joy to be inserted, to create a space of acceptance. As an RDA it was wonderful to witness the joy and connection at Masquerade it reminds us why we do what we do, and why the arts are for all.

This morning there was new energy in the air that was met with our first rehearsals in the playhouse, birthday celebrations (happy birthday Wren), and our first Play Writing workshop with Blaire Baron. Another camp day ends with the excitement for the next day…a day at the lake.

Guess what we are singing to Wren
