Alternative Title: Bringing a Tradition Back
Lately schedules have been packed for the campers as we slowly approach show day this Wednesday, but the campers were able to find some free time to rest as well as express themselves outside of Shakespearean text.
This past Saturday the campers participated in the “What You Will” Talent Show! It was a very fun and low key event with plenty of campers showing off their musical skills, improv, and comedic skills. The staff even took part with the interns putting on a lip sync puppet show. Our camp creator and leader Lia Wallace performed a redition of “You’ll Be Back” from the smash hit musical Hamilton, and the RDAs brought a camp tradition to the talent show.
For context during our usual camp session when we are not doing rep styles of shows the campers get to participate in Showcase. Showcase is an event where campers get to perform multiple different scenes across the Shakespearean canon. One of those scenes performed every year during Showcase is the Pyramus and Thisbe play within a play from A Midsummer’s Night Dream.
Since showcase did not happen this session the RDA’s took it upon themselves to perform the play within the play (I played Wall). It was a lovely and fun night where campers got to sit back and laugh.
To add to all this yesterday the camper’s had a lovely song preview day! It is an opportunity for the campers to perform the pre show music in front of a crowd and plug their show. It was a very successful day and it gave the campers new found energy to take dress rehearsal today and tomorrow.
We are all very excited for you all to come out and support. More info will be posted as show day comes closer and feel free to look back on the blog posted titled “Festival Info and Driving Instructions” for details for show day. Also wanted to share that there is not going to be a live stream this year, however, the shows will be filmed and posted later on the YouTube page for your viewing pleasure.

We look forward to kicking off the War of the Roses series!
