What we did

We did it! We finally finished blocking the play! Today was a long but very productive rehearsal. We completed the final blocking and choreographed the last fight, then jumped into a run-through of Act 3, Scene 2 through the end of the play. After that, we had a very exciting moment—costume try-ons! Everyone looks thoroughly regal, and seeing the characters fully dressed really brought the show to life. We wrapped up the day with some music practice, working on the show song that will make its premiere performance this weekend as one of the pre-show songs in the Playhouse.

Quick and Quotable

  • From the play
      • “The head of Cade, whom I in combat slew.” – Iden (Act 5, Scene 1)
  • From the cast
    • “And now we fight….cling cling, cling cling cling” – Sanchez and Serenity
    • “La fin cor leolives” – Serenity attempting to say ‘la fin couronne les oeuvres’

Production Insights

This has been my first experience working on costumes for a show, and I’ve already learned a lot. It’s been especially exciting to look through and pull pieces from the ASC’s stock—getting to work with garments from past productions has been such a cool part of the process. For our vision of 2H6, our main focuses have been time period and coloring. We’re going for an overall early modern feel, with each house or alliance distinguished by specific colors or materials. This not only helps clarify relationships and rivalries onstage, but also adds visual cohesion to the world we’re building. It’s been a fun and rewarding challenge to match each character’s look to their role in the story.
