What we did
Today we were back in the Playhouse, and we got to do some trap training, which is always very exciting for campers. The majority of rehearsal time was split between finishing up choreographing the remaining fight sequences with Jake, while the other campers worked on memorizing their lines. We then all came back together to block a few more scenes, including one major scene with almost everyone at the end. We are so close to finishing blocking, and the end is in sight. Today was so productive, and the campers are still doing such an amazing job!

Production Insights
So, what is trap training for, you may ask? Well, the Playhouse—which, fun fact, is structured to reflect what we believe original Shakespearean theatres looked like—has five main entrances: the stage left door, center curtain, stage right door, heaven, and hell. While we never use heaven at camp for obvious safety reasons, hell—aka the trapdoor in the center of the stage—can be used if the text calls for it. As for how we’re using it in 2H6… well, that shall remain a mystery (just because you read the blog doesn’t mean you get spoilers!). What we can say is that trap training is essential to ensure that any campers interacting with the trapdoor know exactly how to do so safely. After all, that thing is heavy!
