Alternative Title- “Heatwaves and Heath Ledger”
The heat has been dreadful. I don’t know how anyone else feels, but I’m grateful for the amount of indoor time the campers have in terms of rehearsal. It has been way to hot; thankfully today was pool day.
Not only was it pool day it was also parent check out day. Normally around this time it would be showcase day for campers, but since this session is in rep we have no showcase. Parents were still given the opportunity to check out their kids on top of campers having an opportunity to go to the pool at Gypsy Hill Park.
We had a small turn out with three campers and a fourth joining us later on. Despite the small turn out it was a lovely day full of splashing, water slides, and pool games such as “colors” where instead of guessing a color and getting dunked campers had to guess a Shakespeare play. The pool day was cut a little short due to some thunder, however, it was still a fun filled day.
The campers who stayed back got to chill. Video games were played and lines were memorized as the shows get closer and closer. The day ended with a movie night where campers got to vote. It was between 10 Things I Hate About You and She’s the Man. Two movies that are influenced by Shakespeare comedies, the campers chose 10 Things I Hate About You. A film based off of Taming of the Shrew. As someone who has seen this movie a million times (it’s one of my top four on letterbox) it was fun watching campers who have never seen it react and laugh together. Friendship bracelets were made and nails were painted. It was a lovely little wrap up of a fun day. A day where campers got a much needed break from rehearsals and the heat.
