What we did……………………………………………………………………………..
YAY! Back to rehearsal!! Austen warmed the campers up with a character walking exercise. The campers were tasked with walking in the same manner, headspace, and dynamics of their characters in the play. After a brief warm-up, we jumped right back into detailed work on Act 3 Scene 7 (right where we left off). We continued detailing scenes all the way up until Act 5 Scene 2. Austen closed out rehearsal with a circle of reinforcement and a clap out.
Quick and Quotable…………………………………………………………………
- From the play: “Now Margaret’s curse is fallen upon my head…” -Buckingham (5.1)
- From the cast: “He’s got money to give, but he likes to kill kids.” -Emma (discussing Richard from Tyrrell’s point of view)
“Hear me out, you have this horse and I have this awesome kingdom.” -Wren to Bee (Richard to Richard)
Production Insights…………………………………………………………………
I know we have all greatly missed rehearsal and regular camp life. Returning back to rehearsal was a breath of fresh air. It brought us back to some sense of normal. It felt so good to be back with the kids and their overwhelming creativity!! Getting to work on this play, with these people, has been such a rewarding experience and I am extremely grateful for the time we have had together leading up to this. The ability to be able to rehearse again has just reminded me how much I love camp and it is a bittersweet feeling entering our last week.
