Adding sound cues for the first time!

Today’s date: 22nd July, 2025

Show title: Henry VI, Part 3

Director: Mili Koncelik

Staff Crew: Production Interns Analise Toone (Stage Manager) and Madeleine Cook (Dramaturg); RDA Sarah Clayton, RDA Team Captain Jake Raiter (Fight Captain)

What we did

At the very beginning of our very long day in the Blackfriars, we went through and added sound cues and music for the flourishes, sennets, murderous underscoring, the like. We then had a full fight call with Jake to prepare for both run-throughs later in the day and clean up what needed to be cleaned up. After lunch, we all headed down to Tyson to finalize COSTUMES! After that, we had our first costumed run-through of the day, with sound effects AND combat. When that was all done, we headed to dinner, then came back, went over Mili’s notes, and did it all over again!

Production Insights

This was the longest we’ve spent in the rehearsal room in a single day — nine hours total, with breaks in between. However, the energy the campers brought to our final run-through would have made one think it was the very beginning of the day! The amount of goosebumps I got during the first rehearsal? Unmatched. Not only do we have talented actors, we also have some really talented MUSICIANS, and workshopping the underscoring was so much fun. We also added costumes for the first time, and the magic of that only added to the good vibes. Not only that, but I got a chance to jump right in and understudy George, Duke of Clarence for the day! It was nice to be back in one of my other elements for a bit, and the campers were a huge help both onstage and backstage; it was an honor to act with them. I know I say this in nearly every post, but I’m so excited for the final performance! So much work has been put into this and there’s a lot of talent in this rehearsal room. It’s been a joy to work with this cast and creative team.
