Murell Horton
Costume Designer
Murell is a nationally recognized Costume Designer who has designed and worked on over 170 projects in theatre, television, opera, film, and fashion. He received the Irene Sharaff Young Master Award in 2007 and has been nominated for the Helen Hayes Award for outstanding Costume Design nine times for work on shows at The Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC including Wallenstein (2014), Government Inspector (2011), and The Liar (2008). In 2017 he was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Costume Design for The Liar Directed by Michael Kahn and Written by David Ives. Mr. Horton has costumed many World and National Premieres including The Opera Lysistrata by Mark Adamo, Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl and several plays by Davis Ives. He’s worked in venues such as The Guthrie Theatre, The New York City Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and with such theatre professionals as Michael Kahn (Shakespeare Theatre Company), Gale Edwards, Ethan McSweeny, and John Rando. Murell is a member of IATSE/United Scenic Artists 829 Eastern Region Costume Design Professional Union and is represented by Gersh, NYC.
