Today’s Date: August 2nd 2018

Show Title: Twelfth Night

Director: Emily Heugatter

Assistant Directors: Alexandra Stroud and Riley Turner

Production Intern: Georgia Fowler

Rehearsal Room: Hunt West

What we did: We began rehearsal with our warm-up and then we ran all the scenic transitions in the play to figure out the timing of bringing set pieces on and off stage. Then we worked our show song for a while, which is looking really good. After that we did an Italian run on our feet, so we sped through the show with blocking to try to reduce our run time.

Quick and Quotable:

  • From the play: “Aye, I care not for good life.”
  • From the director: “We need to see your motivation behind that cross. If it’s just that you are ignoring her, great, we need to see that.”
  • From the cast: “I’m going to channel my inner Phoebe.” (Phoebe is from As You Like It and chases after Ganymede)

Production Insights: Hi all! I’m sorry I haven’t been posting as quickly as I usually do. I got injured last Sunday and haven’t been working at full capacity. But I’m back at it!

I really enjoyed working on the show song on Thursday. The soloists, instrumentalists, and everyone was doing a really lovely job. We (the artistic team) had to work pretty hard to get the energy up (we’re still working on that) so that it looks like the cast wants to be up there singing and like we aren’t forcing them to give up their first born child.

Then the Italian run (which is a speed-through) really worked with picking up the pace. The cast was jumping on cues better than ever before and the energy was significantly better than many previous runs.
