What We Did Today
Hello my fellow Shakespeareans. Today was the final day of rehearsal for the cast of All’s Well that Ends Well. After many feelings were shared among the group about the last day, the finishing touches were completed on the show’s online portfolio. We all hope that you will be able to see it streamed on Facebook live this Monday!
Quick and Quotable
From the Play: “The web of our life is a mingled yarn.” -First Lord
From the Director: “I’m sorry, I didn’t see your face.”
From the Cast/Crew: “Hamlet, but I cut the ‘To be or not to be’.” -Jesse Waldman
Production Insights
With a heavy heart, this is where I leave you dear readers. I will admit, throughout these past three weeks I have been extremely skeptical about what the finale of SHXcamp would look like. I have always feared the saying, “building the plane as we fly it,” as I prefer to begin projects on solid ground and not launch them until they are beyond perfection. However, given the world’s current situation, I had to become accustomed to that phrase more than I would have liked to. As soon as the first zoom meeting began I was scared that we would be unable to achieve a coherent vision of what theater can look like in an online format. However, the campers always proved my doubts wrong time and time again. I can confidently say that while we cannot be together, theater can live on in ways we don’t exactly expect it to. I hope that the campers are proud of what they have accomplished together and that they can take away something from this experience to help them in the future, whatever that may look like.
