What we did

We had our morning meeting where we checked-in and scheduled our very busy day. We started rehearsal a little early with Zumba and then did an Italian run (a run where everything is more over the top and faster than anyone thinks it should be)! We took a ten and then the Company came together to discuss how the run went and what they wanted to work on later.

We went to lunch and then the campers had acting coaching with KP! After dinner we went to the Blackfriars for our final rehearsal block of the day. Evening rehearsal was dedicated to costume fittings and promotional materials. The first hour was spent with camper Lilly taking headshots for the program! During this time the costume committee and media committee also worked together to compose tableaus for promotional photos. And then we had a costume parade!

The Company runs the banquet. From left to right: Prospero (lucy), Strange Shape (Lilah), Ariel (Lee), Strange Shape (Gabe), Alonso (Analise), Sebastian (Ella), and Antonio (Alex).

Quick and Quotable

  • From the play
    • “The Ditty does remember my drown’d father.” – Ferdinand (Molly)
  • From the company:
    • Lee: “What am I leaving this scene with?” Maddie: “Baggage.”
    • “Who knew a killer bear could be so cute.” – Lilly

Production Insights

The Italian run this morning was one of the first times we got to see every scene stitched together. Seeing the big picture makes everything more real and has encouraged the Company to make more specific choices. We also did some detail work today with costumes. The combination of big picture and detail work is highly encouraging for what comes next.

P.S. If you thought you were getting production photos you’re going to have to wait and keep an eye out (mwahaha)! Please enjoy this bonus photo from running quick changes as recompense:
