Today’s Date: 7/01/23

Show Title: Cymbeline

Director: Emily MacLeod

Staff Crew: Ronee Goldman, Austen Bell, Rowen Jackson, Scarlet Frishman

What we did

We warmed ourselves up and then broke ourselves up for group work! Character work with Austen, Music with Ronee, and blocking with Emily. Our actors got to use some of their intimacy training on some bittersweet goodbyes between Imogen (Lucy) and Posthumus (Mia). We ended off with group show-and-tell of costume pieces that we might use in the show, like capes and cravats!

Quick and Quotable

  • “And with mine eyes, I’ll drink the words you send” -Posthumus’ goodbye to Imogen in Act 1.
  • “It’s giving ‘all I have is this Twinkie and Hello Dolly’” -Ronee about the beginning of Cymbeline
  • “I don’t think they had medical licenses back then. It was just like. ‘Oh, you want to be a doctor? Name three herbs.’” Wren, about the doctor in this show.

Production Insights

To be honest, I spent most of today thinking about the big presentation I was giving a few hours later to the entire camp, demonstrating the research and Dramaturgy work I’ve done on Cymbeline. I am happy to report that it went well! I did have a great time working on music and intimacy during rehearsal, as those are some of my specialties. The cast gets a well deserved day off tomorrow, so I will write to you all again on Monday!
