Today’s Date: 7/4/23

Show Title: Cymbeline

Director: Emily MacLeod

Staff Crew: Ronee Goldman, Austen Bell, Rowen Jackson, Scarlet Frishman

What we did

Rehearsal today began with staging our show song in the playhouse to adjust spacing, followed by more costume fittings and blocking more scenes. We also spaced a bunch of our combat today with the help of Kailey Potter! When actors weren’t being used on stage or in a fitting they diligently worked on their lines, as off book day fast approaches!

Quick and Quotable

  • “The chance of war, the day was won by accident” -A line by Caius Lucius from a speech I worked a lot with Sydne today! I feel this line can also be related to many events from the US revolutionary war (Happy Independence Day!)
  • “I trust you” -Some of the most significant words a director can say to an actor or any member of production. These were said to me today by Emily!

Production Insights

Today is harder to write about than most rehearsals as I spent most of the day in the attic fitting actors into costumes! I loved being able to do these fittings though, because it is so exciting to see the joy on the actors faces as they get to see the little touches that will help them bring these characters to life. It is very important to our production team that the actors genuinely like their costumes, both in fit and feeling, so that the clothes don’t hinder their performances in any way. I think that some actors were shocked when we asked their opinions, but it truly is valued by all of us! We made some excellent decisions today, and hope to have a little costume parade on Monday to show all of our final decisions!
