Our first staging session featured Blaire Baron arguing for a staging of Ana Caro de Mallen’s The Courage to Right a Woman’s Wrongs on the Blackfriars stage. Written by perhaps the first paid female writer of the Spanish Golden Age, the play can take unique advantage of the Blackfriars’ architecture, including a double balcony scene. The play features a woman taking revenge into her own hands and navigating all kinds of problems that are familiar to people today– including what happens when you love and loathe the same person?
