what we did

Today was all about working with our Team Captain RDAs, Joan and Jake! Joan oversees music while Jake is responsible for combat. The day started with fine-tuning the music and dance that will open the show. We worked more on transitions, then shifted into focusing on combat. Jake went over our major moments of combat in the show, while campers not involved in those scenes worked on lines and honed their acting choices. Here are some pictures from today! You might notice we are in a new room – that is because we are now rehearsing in Deming! We are very much enjoying getting to rehearse with actual curtains.

production insights

My favorite part of today was getting to work with individual campers on their text. We’re at the point where scripts are less necessary, so we can really fine-tune those details. It’s also a reminder of how much progress can be made even when your scene is not the focus of the rehearsal room. I also loved getting to see how the play transitioned into a new space! The production staff is a bit further away from the stage in Deming, so I got a better sense of how the dance looks from an audience perspective. Tomorrow is the off-book date, and I’ll get to see the play in full for the first time! I’m super excited to see everything start to come together.
