what we did

Today, we were back in the playhouse for a whopping six total hours of rehearsal. We started off the day with a costume parade, complete with lots of wigs. We then worked on Act I Scene 1, and the movement sequence that accompanies that scene. The campers also had time to rehearse music and combat with Joan and Jake. Finally, we spent some time working on transitions and moments throughout the play – with props for the first time!

Here are some photos from our work on Act I Scene 1, featuring Alan as the splitting mast.

Plus, here are our Dromios in their wigs!

production insights

Today was certainly a marathon, but I had a great time! More specifically, it’s very cool to see the acting work all the campers have been doing meet the costume and prop work the production team has been doing. The show is really coming together. The cast remains willing to work hard and problem solve whenever the need arises. It’s also wonderful to have this much quality playhouse time, and get a more detailed sense of what the show will look like in the theater space.

quote of the day:

“You look like a medieval peasant” – Chiara, in reference to James’ wig

Until tomorrow!
