ACTORS’ RENAISSANCE SUMMER

things to know

Isn’t the actors’ renaissance usually in the winter?

Yes, ASC has celebrated 15 winters of the Actors’ Ren—and while current conditions don’t allow for safely gathering at the Playhouse, this actor-driven tradition will continue with an entire summer of programming.

where will the plays be performed?

ASC is committed to meeting the needs of our audience—and will offer a variety of options to join us this summer. Macbeth will be produced at our outdoor venue starting in May. Henry V will be presented indoors at the Blackfriars Playhouse in June and will be joined by All’s Well that Ends Well indoors in August. These titles will also be available to stream via our BlkFrsTV.

how will seating work indoors?

The Blackfriars Playhouse will continue to be at a reduced capacity and our front rows, Lord’s Chairs, and Gallant Stools will remain off-sale. Starting in Mid-March, you may pick your seats online or by calling the box office (open Tuesday-Saturday 1PM-4PM). If selecting online, the colorful seats are available for purchase, the black seats are off-sale for social distancing, and the grey x indicates a seat that is already occupied. If you have a larger party than our seating map can seat together, give our Box Office a call to see how we can accomodate you.

How will seating work outdoors?

For the 2021 season, tickets for our outdoor shows will be done per individual. Seating will be general admission. Currently, we are working to finalize our outdoor venue for this season. We will contact all ticket buyers via email with detailed information as soon as details are set.

What about safety?

ASC led the nation in returning to safe, live theater during our SafeStart Summer 2020 Season. We have continued to work with infectious disease specialists to ensure the safety of our actors, staff, and audiences. ASC practices universal masking, social distancing, reduced capacity, and increased sanitation.

Read more about our SafeStart Protocols here.

I’ve had a vaccine, do I still have to wear a mask?

Yes, based on the guidance from our healthcare partners, we are requiring all patrons to wear a mask throughout their visits to our indoor or outdoor spaces.

will there be picnics or concessions?

We will be releasing information about the outdoor food and drink options as we get closer to the opening of the season. We are not able to have concessions at the Blackfriars.

what if restrictions do not allow for the shows to go on?

ASC follows the guidance and restrictions from our local, state, and national officials. If we are unable to produce as planned, you will receive options with what to do with your tickets—including receiving a ticket credit, giving a tax-deductible donation, receiving a digital stream, or a refund.

what if I am sick when i am supposed to attend a show?

We are unable to let anyone who is currently ill, has experienced symptoms within two weeks of their show, or has been exposed to someone with COVID19 within two weeks to attend either indoor or outdoor performances. Please call the Box Office to re-book, refund, or credit your tickets.

I have a ticket from a previous season, can i use that?

Absolutely! Email or call our Box Office with your name (and order number, if you have it) and let us know you would like to use a placeholder from a previous season.

When will the DIGITAL options be available?

Exact dates of streaming access will be announced as the season progresses.
