What we did: We continued a detailed work-through of the script, and all is well so far! The scenes are starting to become quite beautiful.

Quick and Quotable

  • From the play: “What passions hangs these weights upon my tongue? I cannot speak to her, yet she urg’d conference.”
  • From the director: (To Silvius) “You know Marlon Brando yelling ‘Stella’? Make it ‘Phebe’.
  • From the cast: (Touchstone) “Yeah nobody really cares if I’m Touchstone or a Clown. They just don’t care.”

Production Insights: As the work-through continues, I am getting a chance to see the many different layers of talent that each camper possesses. The details that the actors with only one role discover in their character is a fantastic process to follow, and the wonderful individuality that the actors with multiple roles display is really quite something to see. Everyone’s imaginations seem to have no bounds.

Tomorrow we will be adding the vast majority of the props and costumes, at least whatever we haven’t added already. I cannot wait to see everything final be pieced together. Props and costumes seems to spur young actors to new heights in terms of acting, and it encourages them to think outside the box in order to incorporate the costumes into their character. I am extraordinarily eager to see how things start to fall into place during this last week of camp.
