What we did

We began our rehearsal in the playhouse today by having a little costume parade so all of our actors could see each others costumes for the first time! Then we did some music and spacing work! We used today mostly as a tech rehearsal, working on our full-cast scenes so we could get timing, spacing, music, props, and curtains all settled in the space before our two runs tomorrow!

Quick and Quotable

  • “The power I have over you is to spare you” -Spoken by Posthumus in a moment that shows huge development in his character.
  • “Include Imogen in this moment, because if she wanted him dead I think he would kill him” – a beautiful way to show character relationships through intentional pause, eloquently stated by Emily
  • “Oh Imogen!” A hilarious mid-song ad-lib from Casey (Cloten).
  • “It’s giving… thunder” Rowen Jackson to Emily about the sound sheet we’re using during the show (it made Emily laugh a bunch)

Production Insights

Getting our actors in their costumes on the stage is always so exciting. I firmly believe that a good actor doesn’t need a costume, but I also firmly believe that costumes can change a character for the better. Letting our actors start moving around the space in their costumes has already shown changes in posture, speed, and personality that is helping flesh out the show. Today’s rehearsal was tough, as tech always is, but it’s going to help our runs tomorrow go way more smoothly. Speaking of: tomorrow’s report will be extra special, as we have two rehearsals instead of one! Our second rehearsal will be a full dress where the Caesar cast will get to watch for the first time!
