What we did

We started our first rehearsal in Deming with a very dance-heavy warmup, where each camper taught us a new move made up on the spot. Then we split up, with some groups blocking and the rest working on music with me and Austen! We got a lot of fantastic work done on the many pieces of music involved in Cymbeline. Then we all came back together to block the last scene in the play!

Quick and Quotable

• “With everything that pretty is, my lady sweet arise” -Sung by Cloten during act three. I find this line very beautiful, even though it is so silly in context. 
• Emily has decided (for now) to lean into the many realizations and revelations that happen during the last scene with many comedic gasps from the cast. We will see if those persist! 
• This isn’t a quote exactly, but Casey made up an amazing tune for Hark Hark the Lark today! It sounds awesome and I’m really excited to fine-tune the song.

Production Insights 

It feels like we are really making progress in this production! Now that we’re fully blocked we will get to start getting into the nitty gritty details, which is my favorite part. We are also officially halfway through camp, which is extremely happy-sad. It feels like we’ve been here forever already, but I know our last day will come soon and we will be wishing it wasn’t over. Until then we will continue to laugh and play and explore our creativity.
