Biography:

Constance Swain is bursting at the seams to return to the ASC, only this time, she’s wearing a different hat. With performances in over 25 productions spread across 5 seasons at the ASC, Swain is no stranger to the enchanting powers of the Blackfriars. In fact, she credits her directing style to the many years she spent on that very stage.

Her recent directorial credits include Art by Yasmina Reza (Silver Line Theatre Exchange), and Knight of the Burning Pestle, which she directed for the Blackfriars stage during her tenure as the 2024 Mary McDermott Artist in Residency (Mary Baldwin University, Shakespeare & Performance Program).

Swain is also an accomplished voice actor with credits that span everything from Coca-Cola to Penguin Random House. She’s walking proof that a multi-hyphenate artist is an unequivocal force of nature.

Swain holds a BA in Theater from Spelman College and an MFA in Classical Acting from the University of Houston. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Eta Kappa Chapter.
